Tofu Quitting Time

Jennifer and I have just left the luxuries, beautiful, and scathingly hot Railey Bay Resort & Spa in Krabi province. One of the joys of travelling is rediscovering English through others who are learning it. I ordered noodles with tofu and the waiter returned a few minutes later to sadly report "Tofu Quiting Time" - no tofu that night.

The resort was beautiful. Sitting on a recliner at the pool, you look out over the beach to the ocean, the cliff's on either side, and the long tail boats that take you here and there. Because of construction, the resort upgraded us to a better room, with a swanky bathroom, bath robes, a safe in the room, mini bar, and sliding glass doors. Jennifer pointed out that it may be hard to switch from our fancy room to the trekking circuit in Nepal.

On the other side of the peninsula there is cheaper lodging where the rockclimbers hang out. From the "Rock Bar", we could see them climbing up the cliffs. I saluted them with my beer, happy to not be them.
